My name is Kael Nicou. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and at the end of my senior year I chose to follow the only path that ever felt true to me — photography and filmmaking.
Drawn to the ocean and the stories hidden within it, I’ve built my work around aquatic and water sports imagery, where movement, light, and uncertainty collide. The dynamic interplay between water and motion has always fascinated me; it’s an environment that challenges you, humbles you, and rewards you with moments you can’t find anywhere else.

As a photographer and filmmaker, I focus on surf, underwater, and environmental cinematography. I aim to blend technical precision with a quiet, cinematic intensity — capturing raw energy, subtle details, and the silent moments most people never see. Every frame I create is a way to freeze a story, to reveal a truth beneath the surface, and to share the emotion of a fleeting instant.

Now part of the Sunova media team, I document the craft, culture, and people who shape the world of surf. My goal is to keep exploring the evolving horizons of aquatic and water-sports storytelling, creating images and films that feel honest, immersive, and connected to the ocean that inspires me.
